ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Sept. 21, 2026 — SparkStory Marketing today marked its first year in business and announced the addition of Josiah Dawley as Web Developer and Creative Director.
Dawley builds the work clients see, the websites, video, and design, from brand identity through launch. He has led growth strategy across content, generative engine optimization (GEO), and SEO, and handles the production craft himself rather than handing it off. His appointment brings website and video production fully in house at a point when both have become central to how SparkStory’s clients get found.
Dawley joins alongside two other additions made over the past year: Brandon Grill as Paid Media Manager and Denmark Asoy as Graphic Designer. The agency now employs six people, up from its two founders at launch.
“Josiah is the person actually creating and developing the website. That matters more than it used to. Many agencies sell you a strategy call and then outsource the work. When we ship your website, the person who built it is on our team and sits in on your account.”
Founded in September 2025 by Christensen and co-founder Sara Jokela, SparkStory now works with dozens of clients across Alaska and the Lower 48, in small service businesses, the trades, and professional and health practices. Named clients include Welcome Anchorage Tours, Klebs, Remote Waters, Arctic Rose Wellness, Line and Ledger, and Anchored In Hope.
“Every single client we have came from somebody trusting us first. Someone took a chance on a brand-new agency. Someone else told a friend. Someone left an honest review when they didn’t have to. We are grateful for this first year of growth!”
Much of the past year’s work has centered on generative engine optimization, structuring a business’s website and content so AI assistants like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Google’s AI features can understand what it does, where it operates, and when to recommend it.
“I came on board because of how the work gets made, and the people behind it. Nothing ships that we can’t stand behind, and nobody here writes a claim we can’t back up.”
SparkStory enters its second year focused on its $997 per month GEO service and on website and video production for small service businesses and practice owners.
